It will be hard to spot a face in the crowd of 30,000 participants at the2024 Boston Marathonon Monday. But if you search hard enough, you may spy a couple of famous figures along the 26.2-mile race course.

Not including grand marshal Rob Gronkowski, the notable competitors who took part in Marathon Monday included a celebrity chef, a Bruins Stanley Cup winner, and many athletes who played an important part in Boston Marathon history.

Here are the finishing times (courtesy the B.A.A. racing app) for the bold-faced names running the 2024 Boston Marathon.

2024 Boston Marathon notable finishing times

Carl Dooley (3:03:15)

James Beard-nominated chef Carl Dooley (Mooncusser, Moon Bar) ran the 2024 Boston Marathon with a time of 3:03:15, averaging a pace of seven minutes per mile.

Dooley ran the 2024 Boston Marathon on behalf of the Dream Big foundation, which “provides girls from low-income situations with the items needed to participate in sports that contribute to their health & education.”

Meb Keflezighi (3:08:58)

Wearing bib number 2014 to commemorate the his victory in the 2014 Boston Marathon, Keflezighi, 48, finished the 2024 Boston Marathon with a time of 3:08:58.

After crossing the finish line shortly after 1:10 p.m., Keflezighi told WCVB that the higher-than-expected temperatures made running the race more difficult.

“Today it was a struggle,” Keflezighi said. “I felt the humidity. It was 98 percent.”

Nevertheless, Keflezighi said the crowds and fellow runners kept him motivated.

“There were a lot of people cheering me on,” Keflezighi said. “It was a great atmosphere.”

Zdeno Chara (3:30:52)

The Boston Bruins legend bested his 2023 Boston Marathon time (3:38:23), finishing the 2024 Boston Marathon with a time of 3:30:52.

Chara told WCVB that despite the temperatures, he had a blast during the race.

“The fans were so loud and cheering us on,” Chara said. “It was an amazing day. I enjoyed it very much.”

Chara also confirmed that he will continue his quest to finish all of the Big Six marathons (Boston, Berlin, Chicago, London, New York, Tokyo) by running the London Marathon this weekend, only six days after Marathon Monday.

Nicolas Kiefer (3:59:25)

Former pro tennis player Nicolas Kiefer completed his sixth and final Big Six marathon at the 2024 Boston Marathon, finishing just under four hours with an unofficial time of 3:59:25.

Kiefer, who was previously ranked No. 4 in the world tennis rankings and won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics,wrote on Instagramthat he was feeling “extremely good” during his final long training run before the race.

Matt Wilpers (3:01:22)

Matt Wilpers, a fitness coach widely known for his work as a Peloton instructor, brought his can-do energy to the 2024 Boston Marathon, finishing with a time of 3:01:22.

In an interview with Boston.com, Wilpers said that running the race was both a long-time personal goal and a great opportunity to fulfill his goal as a Peloton instructor to inspire people through his own actions.

“My success is when my athletes are successful, so if I can push them to be stronger, better versions of themselves by going out and leading by example, like, I love this stuff,” Wilpers said. “I’ll have fun racing a marathon, I’ll have fun racing a 5K. Whatever it is, this is what I do for fun. And so if this is going to get people excited, let’s go do it.”

Amby Burfoot (4:59:58)

Ambrose “Amby” Burfoot was an elite marathoner in the 1960s and ’70s, winning the race in 1968. Burfoot, 77, wore the 1968 bib during Monday’s race in honor of his milestone victory 56 years ago.

Burfoot, who finished the 2024 Boston Marathon with a time of 4:59:58, told WCVB that being able to run the Boston Marathon at his age was “a gift.”

“I always say that every mile is a gift and I had 26 miles of gifts today,” Burfoot said. “To me it’s a celebration of life. I’m 77 years old now. And I’m going to keep coming back, because I want to celebrate my life and the Boston Marathon.”

Dave McGillivray (5:30:51)

For years, Boston Marathon race course director Dave McGillivray was consistently the last runner to finish the race. That’s not because he’s slow — his personal best time is 2:29:58 — but because he was too busy overseeing every aspect of the race to compete until well after most runners already crossed the finish line.

This time around, McGillivray ran 52nd Boston Marathon during the day, finishing with an unofficial time of 5:30:51. After seeing off the first two waves of open division runners, McGillivray performed his typical race course director duties from the middle of the scrum instead of up front on a motor scooter as he has done for the past few decades.

ChrisNikic (6:31:33)

ChrisNikic was only 22 years old when he finished his first Boston Marathon in 2021, but he had already completed a number of athletic milestones. Nikic is the first person with Down Syndrome to complete the Hawaii Ironman, and has already completed the Big Six marathons. Nikic fought through the heat to finish the 2024 Boston Marathon with an unofficial time of 6:31:33.

Phoebe Robinson (5:53:19)

Comedian Phoebe Robinson, best known for her podcast (and subsequent HBO series) “2 Dope Queens,” ran her first Boston Marathon, finishing with an unofficial time of 5:53:19.

Prior to the race, the standup comic raised money for(RED), a nonprofit dedicated to fighting AIDS.

Chris Tanaka (4:44:53)

WBZ-TV anchor Chris Tanaka was one of at least three local news personalities running the 2024 Boston Marathon. Along with Zdeno Chara, Tanaka ran for Team Hoyt, finishing the race with an unofficial time of 4:44:53.

“Every year, we’d see Dick and Rick Hoyt bravely competing, simultaneously telling the world ‘yes, you can!’ to any challenge, goal or dream,” Tanaka said on his fundraising page. “Sometimes your reality is bigger than your dreams.”

Emily Maher (5:14:26)

A general assignment reporter for WCVB, Maher ran her first Boston Marathon in 5:14:26.

Maher ran in support ofThe Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, “an organization that provides a safe and supportive environment for young people to learn and grow,”she said on a fund-raiser website.

Tevin Wooten (4:55:52)

The 2024 Boston Marathon was the first marathon for Tevin Wooten, a meteorologist for NBC10 Boston and NECN, who finished the race in 4:55:52.

“My training has very much been a source of therapy,” Wooten wrote on Instagram. “Despite the physical motion of running, these runs are often the calmest points of my week.”
