Patrick E. Craig is an Amazon bestselling author. He quit his successful music career to focus on writing fiction books. Despite his successful music career, Patrick has in-depth background knowledge as a writer. Throughout his high school years, he edited high school and college newspapers. He won an editorial contest sponsored by Wall Street Journal in 1964 for an editorial he wrote regarding J.F. Kennedy’s death. Patrick was a Senior Editor for a special edition of the University of Washington Evergreen in the same year. The Amish Heiress, the first book in The Paradise Chronicles by Patrick E. Craig, is an excellent work of Amish-themed fiction. It is the first volume of The Paradise Chronicles. We are introduced to Rachel Hershberger a eighteen young girl with big aspirations in life. While she desires to attend Cornell University and study veterinary medicine, she truly is aware that her dad, Jonathan, will never consent to her departure. Since his return almost four years ago, he’s been highly demanding (he also has emotional problems and has not fully regained his memories). Rachel is Daniel King’s confidante, but he desires more from her. She is neither fit for marriage nor interested in remaining in Paradise, Pennsylvania. She has submitted a letter to Cornell detailing her life circ*mstances and hopes to be accepted after which she must find a means to pay for her education.

Rachel is a member of the St. Clair family. The St. Clairs’ are an ancient family who have established a unique trust. When she filed her claim, Augusta St. Clair, who had tied the knot into the family, believed she would inherit the trust. It turns out that only the immediate descendant of the firstborn son is eligible to inherit. In the meantime, trustees are searching for Robert St. Clair’s daughter, who would be the heir apparent if she possesses the mark of the key (a port wine discoloration over her heart). Augusta St. Clair is also searching for her but has no plans to assist her.

After a final dispute with her father, Rachel approaches Augusta St. Clair. She demonstrates that she is the successor to the St. Clair estate and departs with Augusta. Rachel soon marries Gerald, Augusta’s grandson as she must marry a St. Clair if she is to inherit. Will Rachel come to terms with her hastily made choices? Augusta has a plan and will do anything to achieve what she wants. The Amish Heiress is a captivating novel that will keep you hooked from the first page to the last.
Amish romances are clean, without sex scenes and cursing, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t expect things like violence, deceit, or alcohol use. The characters in this novel are well-crafted. They range from simple Amish folks to intricate English people of Connecticut and the mysterious associate they know.

This book’s plot was well-conceived and well-written. The narrative is engaging and holds your attention throughout. There are numerous twists and turns that will have you on the edge of the seat. Patrick E. Craig did a fantastic job of integrating the tales of two distinct groups of individuals and keeping the story believable—a blend of Amish fiction and primetime drama with a sprinkling of intrigue.

A Quilt for Jenna is the first book in Apple Creek Dreams by Patrick E. Craig. This engaging story by Patrick Craig starts on Thanksgiving Day, 1950. Jerusha Springer, grieving for the loss of her daughter Jenny, is perplexed by her husband Reuben’s disappearance following Jenny’s death, and struggles with her conviction that she was cast out from God’s favor. Each thread of the quilt that Jerusha had just completed was infused with mystery and sentimental recollections. She questions if she has sinned against God by being overly proud of her quilt, yet she can’t voluntarily repress her conviction that it deserves the supreme prize at the Dalton Fair.

Reuben Springer, a staunch Amish man, goes against the Ordnung by participating in second world war by joining the army alongside his good acquaintance friend, Bobby Halverson. Patrick E. Craig’s story is narrated about actual events, not through Amish fiction. As a reader, you will appreciate the thought process from the male point of view as the story switches from different angles moving from the past and forward with each character.

Reuben is a decent man tormented and disheartened by the war, especially because Jerusha and the Amish community have not forgiven him. The Englishman Bobby, Reuben and Jerusha’s closest companion is one of the story’s memorable characters. Another hero, Henry, lends a thrill to Jerusha’s journey. Then there is the blizzard, which made the region anchored and paralyzed. Historians have called it the Great Appalachian Storm and with others terming it as the Century’s Worst Blizzard. Aside from the potential assistance of angels and the discernible presence of the Spirit of God within each heart, there is no other supernatural assistance.

A Quilt for Jenna is notably more than just a memoir of Amish life. This novel features a multidimensional portrayal of powerful characters. Insights into oppressive emotional burdens, ethics, or their absence are questioned and investigated. Jerusha and Reuben Springer are depicted in depth as their respective tales unfold and as they face insurmountable obstacles. This tale of sadness and victory is brought to life by the skillful ability of Patrick Craig to create vibrant, evocative settings.

A Quilt for Jenna is an evocative story that will have you in tears. The story takes place over the course of five days during a Thanksgiving Blizzard in Ohio. Throughout the novel, the characters frequently reflect on their pasts, where we learn about Jerusha Springer and her spouse Reuben – how they met, what they have endured, and the result of their unique stories. The story is multi-level, transporting the reader from the peaceful community of Amish believers through the war years of the second world war and into the 1950s when the prolific winter storm of the century threatens to immobilize the hopes of many.
